Abstract:

Before the impoundment of Three Gorges Reservoir, the three diversion channels from Changjiang River to Dongting Lake shrank gradually. After the operation of Three Gorges Reservoir, three channels are scoured and the diversion capacity changed. To further understand the evolution trend of the three channels and take reasonable and comprehensive measures, the water level, discharge and variation tendency of the diversion capacity of the three channels are analyzed by using the flow and sediment data, topographic data and the previous research results. The analysis results show that the diversion capacity of the three channels decreased in general, however in the initial impoundment period of Three Gorges Reservoir, the diversion capacity increased in flood season.
