Abstract: Water resource is one of the indispensable basic materials for the development of human society, which is related to all fields of economic and social development.In order to do a good job in regional development planning and realize sustainable social and economic development, we analyze the economic and social development of counties in Yichang City, the utilization of water resources, and relationship between the level of economic and social development of the county-level and the temporal and spatial differences of water resources according to the economic and social development and water resources data of Yichang City from 2005 to 2018.The analysis results show that:(1) The total amount of water resources is stable in recent years, and utilization efficiency of water resources of all districts and counties in Yichang City generally shows an upward trend over time.The overall utilization efficiency of water resources transforms from a low level to a high level, and the potential for water saving is great.(2) Water consumption maintains at a relatively stable range with the growth of GDP,and being a stable state on the overall.The indicator of water consumption level increases year by year, and the water consumption level of various districts and counties is obviously different.Based on the analysis results, it is recommended to coordinate the relationship between the social and economic development demand of each district and county and the water resources, rationally optimize the allocation of water resources, and promote the healthy and balanced social and economic development and green ecological development of Yichang City.
