Abstract:
The cementitious sand gravel technology (CSG) is a new dam construction technique in recent years. Taking the longitudinal cofferdam construction of the 5th cascade Hydropower Station on Nam Ou River in Laos as a case, the natural shoal mineral materials of upper and lower river reaches near the Hydropower Station are used as the coarse aggregate with a spot of cementing materials, and the construction was conducted in a method similar to RCC construction. The sampling results after construction completion and flood operation situation indicate that CSG is feasible in ensuring the engineering safety and can create significant economic value through shortening the construction period, which provide reference for the similar projects.
