Abstract: Bank collapse seriously affects the levee safety along Yangtze River and directly restricts the development of the Changjiang Economic Belt strategy. In this paper, the observation and investigation work of the bank collapse in middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River are systematically summarized. The implementation of the bank collapse monitoring, the bank collapse types, collapse characteristics and the main influencing factors are analyzed, and the bank collapse monitoring technologies by multi-beam sounding system and three-dimensional laser scanner are introduced. The research results can be used to further improve the monitoring system and means of bank collapse in middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
