Abstract: In order to prevent the large-scale erosion of East Hengsha Shoal and the sand resource waste and environmental pollution caused by the dumping dredged soil from the Yangtze River Estuary deep water channel into the sea, we propose to divide East Hengsha Shoal according to its characteristics of the biological habitat.Based on this we use the dredged soil in the deep water channel in the Yangtze River Estuary to form ecological land.In this paper, by studying the historical data of the dredged soil, the requirements of biological habitat and the development characteristics of the tidal flat wetlands in the Yangtze River Estuary, we put forward a plan to shape the ecological basement of East Hengsha Shoal according to the requirements of the habitat namely the area of isobath above 0 m,-2~0 m,-2~-5 m at a ratio of 1∶1∶2.Then, we set up “T dam” for ecological basement conservation, and divide the area into the four ecological function areas that are main habitat area of shorebirds(area A),reed pond area(area B),main habitat area of wild ducks(area C),birds food growing area(area D),finally forming an ecological land formation demonstration area. This research program can provide theoretical basis and technical support for ecological restoration of tidal flats.
