Abstract: 12 heavy rainfall processes happened in Jiangxi Province in 2016 summer, resulting in a prolonged higher water level than warning level in Poyang Lake and Changjiang River reach, and many dangerous cases were found in reservoir dam and polder embankment. We summarize the flood fighting experiences of Jiangxi Province by analyzing the rainfall and flood processes, the adopted flood control measures and the achieved effects. The flood fighting force should be deployed coordinately and the dangerous cases should be treated scientifically through early assessment, early arrangement and early investigation. During the flood control process, strict disciplines must be emphasized and the coordination of armed force and civil power is also an essential component. Some weak spots in the flood fighting are illustrated and it is demonstrated that the weak spots could be improved by following the principle of problem-oriented, systematical planning, comprehensive strategies and bolstering weak spots.
