Abstract: As the first batch of pilot cities to construct sponge cities, Wuhan selected 2 districts of Sixin and Qingshan for construction demonstration, however, the progress was not idea, especially the re-construction in old urban towns, so the problems encountered in implement process had some representativeness and the solution would provide helpful reference for follow-up construction. Based on the sponge city design idea and in consideration of the sponge body design scheme of Deping road re-construction project, we investigated the implement process and achievements. According to the results we put forward some suggestions on expanding public participation, encouraging ownership innovation, promoting paid-use and perfecting technological code to speed up the sponge city construction and improve the operation efficiency.
